BROUSSARD, La. — Temporary accommodations provider HB Rentals has completed the delivery of a seven module ABS/USCG package on a barge in San Diego, CA. The package will support a military project off the coast of California for three months.

Remote Site Living Accommodations

When the client first approached HB about needing accommodations equipment for thirty six people for their upcoming project, they had not yet worked out what size barge the modules would be installed on. They were between two different barges at very different sizes. To help the client get a understanding of what the accommodations module mix would look on either barge HB, utilizing its in house engineering team, provided two different layout designs fitting each of the two barges. This allowed the client to evaluate the available deck space on each barge and make a better informed decision on which barge would suit their needs.

In addition to providing the client with layout design drawings, quotes for each option were provided to give the client a sense of the cost difference between the two barges. The quotes did not just include the rental rate, but also the estimated installation and transportation rates. This allowed the client to get the full picture of the cost of adding the accommodations modules to the two different barges, and allowed them to make a more informed decision. After working with the client to make small adjustments to the equipment mixes and layout design the client was able to decide which barge they would use and what equipment they would require from HB.

HB provided the following equipment based on the client’s decision to utilize the larger barge for the project. Three ABS/USCG 12 Man Sleepers were provided to give beds, showers, and restrooms for the crew. One ABS/USCG Galley and one ABS/USCG Diner were provided to make sure that everyone on board the barge would be fed and have a place to eat. One ABS/USCG Office was supplied so that there would be a dedicated work space as well.

Along with the modules, auxiliary equipment were also provided by HB. This included Platforms, Stairways, Short Steps, and a Muster Platform which allowed the modules to be stacked and reduce the accommodation module’s foot print on the barge. A Fire & Gas Panel was supplied to make sure the modules tied into the barge fire and gas system, while Distribution/Transformer Skid and Receptacle Rack were supplied to provide power to the modules and auxiliary equipment. A Freezer unit and a Reefer unit were supplied to add additional storage for food and finally a Laundry Pavilion Skid was supplied to make sure all on the barge would be able to clean their clothing onsite.

Along with the equipment, HB provided a supervisor to oversee the installation of the equipment on the barge in San Diego, CA. The installation took four days from when the equipment arrived in San Diego from HB’s Broussard, LA facility to being fully functional. The accommodations modules and auxiliary equipment will now support a military project for the next three months.
