HB Rentals TLQ Accommodation Installed on Marine Floating Derrick Completing Work on Rockefeller University

HOUSTON, TX (July 29th, 2016) – Onsite accommodation specialist HB Rentals was chosen to outfit a marine floating derrick conducting expansion work of Rockefeller University’s campus with a temporary living quarter solution. The TLQ installation went onto the barge, which began operations June 14th.

The module installed was an ABS/USCG certified 4 Man Sleeper. HB Rentals’ 4 Man sleeper is a 25’ module which excels in situations when a project calls for additional POB but has a limited footprint and tight weight restrictions. Plug and play features allow for a safe, easy installations onto the host vessel or platform. Additional scope of work on this project included a Marine Sanitation Device (MSD), sewage lift pumps, and safety equipment.
The Rockefeller dormitory expansion project represented a unique opportunity for both HB Rentals and its client. The expansion project called for 475-900 ton lifts of pre-fabricated dormitory sections. Utilizing specialized crane lifts, these components will be lifted over FDR Drive at 64th St from the East River. The sections being installed are the first, second and third floors of the new building. With this project, these lifts will be the heaviest lifts ever accomplished in New York City from water to land.
In addition to the extraordinary lifts involved, this project required temporary overnight accommodations. This is where temporary onsite housing specialist, HB Rentals, stepped in with their expertise. With over 40 years in operation providing complete end-to-end temporary accommodation solutions, HB Rentals was able to quickly develop a solution based on the project requirements.
Traditionally known for offering leading accommodation solutions in the oil and gas market, the Rockefeller campus project demonstrates the wide range of industries that HB Rentals can support with custom temporary living quarters.
“In being able to provide not only the module as a living quarter, but also essential auxiliaries such as sewage lift components and sanitation devices, we were able to meet all the needs of the client, saving them the hassle of dealing with multiple suppliers, shortening the supply chain and simplifying the sourcing process,” said Murphy, HB Rentals’ North America Sales Director.
The expansion will be 19 sections in all and when complete, will expand Rockefeller University’s East dormitory. The sections being placed will provide the base for a two acre expansion.
